About
Scott Merrick first explored his passion for music through the trumpet and French horn. His family, which hails from New Orleans, introduced him to jazz and classical music at a very young age. Over time, he became drawn to the musical ingenuity of film composers such as Ennio Morricone, and Bernard Herrmann and in 2014, he taught himself to compose cinematic music of his own. He quickly realized that he could not envision a career doing anything else. With that, he dedicated himself to learning the compositional craft and developing his talent. This led him to New York University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a major in Music Composition (Screen Scoring Concentration) and a minor in The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology.
Scott currently collaborates frequently with talented independent filmmakers on numerous award-winning short films and other projects. His film scores have been featured in festivals and events across the world such as The Savannah Film Festival, The Berlin International Film Festival, and The LA Shorts International Film Festival.
A prolific, versatile, and thoughtful composer, Scott is committed to supporting the unique vision of every project he is a part of.
